HIKING AND BIKING
Ty Newydd B&B is situated by the Brecon and Monmouthshire Canal. The tow path is accessible from our accommodation and with 1250 miles of public path ways the area offers walks for all abilities.
Pen y Fan, the highest peak in South Wales and Langorse Lake, one of the few eutrophic Lakes in Wales are both close by to explore.
If you would like to cover more ground and faster on bike, there are two national cycle routes which run through the national park, and 16 single track mountain bike routes. The trails vary from those suitable for all the family to the more advanced and challenging black graded routes. You can organise bike hire drop off and pick up from the front door.
We are next to Cambrian Cruisers Marina where Cambrian Cruisers website link run and hire out a fleet of traditional steel canal boats. They offer weekly and short breaks. Why not combine a canal boat trip with a Bed and Breakfast stay.

FUN DAYS OUT
The Big Pit (National Coal Museum) a world hertiage site at Blaenafon just a scenic drive away is an interesting way to learn of more about the Industrial Revolution in Wales.
Wales is often known for is castles and has some of Europes finest surviving examples from the medieval period in The Brecon Beacons National Park. Carreg Cennen is a superb example which stands on a sheer limestone crag overlooking the remote Black Mountain.
Take a trip on a vintage steam locamotive (The Brecon Mountain Railway) which runs between Pontsicill and Pentwyn Reservoirs.
St Fagans is one of Europe's leading open-air museums. Wander round this living museum and see over forty original buildings from various historical periods. It stands in the grounds of the magnificent St Fagans Castle, a late 16th-century manor house donated to the people of Wales by the Earl of Plymouth.
One of the most beautiful and popular parts of the Brecon Beacons National Park are the caves and waterfalls between the villages of Pontneddfechan and Ystradfellte....a must see!
